Ambience Pro Solar uses the same weatherproof WeatherTite cable as the plug-in Ambience Pro range, with shatterproof plastic S14 bulbs instead of glass, plus a 1 watt solar panel. Everything in the run is built to stay outside through weather rather than come down each season.
The strand is powered entirely by its included 1 watt solar panel, so it needs no outlet, no extension cord, and no wiring. The panel charges through daylight and the lights come on at dusk. That makes them the option for pergolas, fences, and far corners of a yard where there is no power.
No. Solar strands are not dimmable and the color temperature is fixed at 2700K, a warm, candle-like tone. You choose the tone at purchase: Warm White or Soft White.
The bulbs are omnidirectional, so you aim them by how you hang the strand. The one placement that does matter is the solar panel: it needs several hours of direct sun to run the lights through the evening, so mount it clear of shade from trees, eaves, and fences.
The strand ships with its S14 LED bulbs included, rated 1 watt each at 2700K, and individual bulbs are replaceable rather than sealed in. The lower wattage compared to the plug-in range is what allows the strand to run all evening on solar power alone.
Ambience Pro Solar Non Hanging comes in 27 foot and 48 foot lengths, each in Warm White or Soft White. If you have an outlet within reach, the plug-in Ambience Pro range offers brighter 2 watt bulbs and a third color option.
Outdoors only, and specifically where power is a problem: back fences, garden paths, pergolas, detached patios, campsites, and rented spaces where you cannot run permanent wiring. If the run is near an outlet and you want maximum brightness, the plug-in version is the better pick.
The 27 foot strand suits a small patio, a balcony, or a single fence run. The 48 foot strand covers a backyard seating area or a longer pergola. Leave slack for the drape, and remember solar bulbs run at 1 watt, so they read as warm ambient glow rather than task lighting.
Both lengths ship in a small parcel box, not an oversized item. The 27 ft strand ships in roughly an 8.5 x 8.2 x 4.7 inch carton at about 2.6-2.75 lbs; the 48 ft strand ships in a 9.84 x 8.66 x 4.72 inch carton at 3.45 lbs. Color doesn't affect box size, only strand length does.
Almost no assembly, though you do choose between a clip or a stake for mounting the solar panel, an easy swap since the panel is interchangeable between the two. Screw in the bulbs, hang the strand, and site the solar panel where it gets direct sun. Allow a full day of charging before judging the first night's runtime.
The replacement solar panel is the part worth knowing about. The panel is the component most exposed to weather and sun over years, and the replacement can be bought separately, so a strand can be brought back to life without replacing the whole run. Spare bulbs are also available in the replacement and spare parts collection.
Ambience Pro Solar is covered by a 2 year warranty. Note this is shorter than the 5 year warranty on Brightech's plug-in string lights and lamps, which reflects the solar panel and battery components. It is UL Listed, and its battery carries UN 38.3 certification.
