How tall should a floor lamp be?
For general light in a corner, a lamp 58 to 65 inches tall works in most living rooms. For a reading nook, look for an adjustable or arc lamp so the shade sits just above shoulder height when you're seated, roughly 47 to 50 inches from the floor.
What's the difference between an uplight, arc, and reading floor lamp?
Uplight floor lamps point their light at the ceiling, which bounces it back to wash the whole room softly. Arc lamps reach out over a sofa or chair to light it from above, with no side table needed. Reading lamps put an adjustable head right where the task is.
Will a floor lamp light a whole room?
A single uplight floor lamp comfortably lights a 12×12 ft room. For larger or open-plan spaces, pair it with a table lamp to avoid harsh shadows in the corners.
Are the bulbs replaceable?
Do floor lamps work with smart plugs and dimmers?
