Rowan Floor Lamp

The Rowan is a slim brass-finished metal pole under a woven thread shade. The weave is what makes the light soft: it glows through the shade as well as out of the open top and bottom, so the lamp itself becomes part of the light.

The Rowan is not adjustable: the height and the shade are fixed. Its practical feature is the switch, a rotary knob at the socket, which is the traditional arrangement on a classic floor lamp and keeps the cord free of any switch box.

The Rowan is not directional. Its shade is open at the top and the bottom, so light goes up toward the ceiling and down onto the floor at once, filling a corner evenly, with a softer glow through the weave. The head is fixed, so aim it by placement.

Yes. A 9.5 watt, 800 lumen LED bulb is included, about the light of a 60 watt incandescent, in a warm 3000K tone. It is a standard A19 bulb with an E26 base, so replacements are easy to find.

The Rowan is warm and natural, suited to coastal, boho and relaxed modern rooms. It works beside a sofa or chair, in a bedroom corner, or in an entryway, and the slim pole means it takes very little visual space for its height.

The Rowan stands 65.75 inches tall, a little taller than an average woman at about 5 feet 4, with a shade 17.25 inches across. The shade is the part to plan for: it is nearly a foot and a half wide, so leave room beside a sofa arm. The lamp weighs 11 lbs.

The Rowan ships in an 18.5 by 18.5 by 12 inch carton at 11.6 lbs, because the pole packs in sections. It is a medium box, not a long one, and one person can carry it in.

Assembly is required: the pole sections thread together into the base and the shade sits on at the socket. No tools, about 10 minutes.
