How tall should a floor lamp be?
For ambient corner light, 58–65" works in most living rooms. For a reading nook, look for an adjustable or arc lamp so the head sits just above shoulder height when you're seated — roughly 47–50".
What's the difference between a torchiere, arc, and reading lamp?
Torchieres throw light upward to wash a whole room softly. Arc lamps cantilever the shade over a sofa or chair for directed light without a side table. Reading lamps put an adjustable head right where the task is.
Will a floor lamp light a whole room?
A single torchiere comfortably handles a 12×12 ft room as ambient light. For larger or open-plan spaces, pair one with a table lamp to avoid harsh shadows in the corners.
Are the bulbs replaceable?
Yes — every floor lamp uses a standard, user-replaceable E26 LED. No sealed fixtures or proprietary modules.
Do floor lamps work with smart plugs and dimmers?
All of them work with any third-party smart plug. Models tagged "Dimmable" include a built-in dimmer or a dimmable bulb out of the box.
